So. Excited.

I am so excited for Friday I can barely keep it inside!! (Let's be real, anyone who's knows me knows that I'm not keeping it inside at all.)

Lost...and found.

One of the most frustrating things is losing things. One of the greatest things is finding them. Last night I spent almost four hours looking for my checkbook. I can't tell you how many times I went through my car, living room, desk, bookshelves, kitchen (I was getting desperate), bedroom, etc. I even went through my closet and storage facility! And it was after I had just gone through everything on under my bed that I thought to myself...you know I'm missing my glasses too. Where was the last place I had those? Answer:black purse. Next question? Where is the black purse. (I should also mention I had already emptied and gone through every other purse that I own at least twice by this point.) I'm staring at a totally clean apartment and now I have to find the black purse. Fortunately it only took me 3 minutes or so to figure out that the black purse was hanging up on my clothes rack right in front of me. Inside? Checkbook and glasses. Sigh.

Funny thing is that when I started writing this post I was going to rant about how frustrating it is to lost something and how irritated I get when I set down something (usually my keys) only to come back 2 minutes later and have NO idea where I put them and how it just makes for the start of a bad day. (Dear former English teachers, how'd ya like that run-on sentence?) But then I thought, you know, whenever something bad happens, there's usually something good that follows. Bad=lost checkbook, Good=found checkbook, no need to get a cashiers check, or drive to Jefferson to my bank, sense of relief, slept better last night. But isn't that how it is for most things? There's always some good to be found in the bad, even if it's just learning not to make that mistake again. Don't get me wrong...I'm not little Penelope Positive all the time over here. I have my bad days where the world is against me just like everyone else. But once there's a little separation from what is bad and frustrating...there is almost always something to take away. What's lost doesn't always remain lost (unless we are discussing the case of the magical disappearing apartment and mailbox key from a couple weeks ago...they still remain lost). What's bad isn't always all bad. Look for the good, it's there...

Bonus post

So I'm thinking of getting a tattoo...

Day 2...not bad so far!

Well, we're on day 2 and I've managed to post two days in a row. Great success. I need to get my butt out of bed and into gear and go running. Hopefully I can go tonight after babysitting. Ooo! I am leaving work early today to pick up Ingrid Michaelson tickets! I could probably go after that and before I babysit tonight. Even if it's a short little run.

Lots of good things coming up. I'm hoping and praying that one of my friends gets a callback on his job interview. I know he could do such a good job and I really hope that he gets this opportunity. Wednesday I have the last Brewers game of the year. Bummed they got knocked out of the post-season already, but here's to 2013. Thursday is voice and shopping for Teri's get well basket. Friday is the concert! REALLY excited for this. Saturday there's a Badger game to watch and Sunday there's Sara B.'s birthday and a Packers game to watch! Not to mention there's a Schommer/Oppermann coffee date coming up, as well as Chrysta's birthday, another Badger game, a 15k run, Halloween, the quilt retreat...AUGH! Life seems like it's running by me sometimes.

Sometimes I feel like I don't spend enough time appreciating all the good things in my life. Yeah, sometimes things are hard and difficult. But there are a lot of positive things in my life. And the last couple months I have learned to let go of control of certain things, and just let them happen. I have a hard time with that. I want to know when things are going to happen, what's going to happen, and what I need to do to prepare for them. And I've been forced to relax and just let things happen. And WOW has it been hard! But, sometimes in life we don't always have control. We just have to let God be God and trust that things will work out how they are supposed to. And it's something I'm still working on, but I'm finding out that sometimes when we can let go...it's better than we expected. And there are good things that happen that we have no control over.

So. For day two...ramblings? Not bad. Here's to another day. See you tomorrow. =)

Sage words of wisdom...to myself

I need to get better at blogging, because right now I suck at it. The goal...post one thing everyday. Even if it's something small and short. I tried doing this with pictures, posting one picture everyday. I made it to about February before I finally gave up. But I'm going to try and do this for one year. A blog a day, even if it's a bitty blog. Lots of things to cover, running, religion, music, relationships, love, technology, etc. It's all going into this. So to kick off a year of blogging I'm going to start with a letter to myself...which I am promptly sharing with the rest of the world.

Dear 29 year old Andrea,

You're 2 1/2 months away from turning 30. DON'T FREAK OUT. It's just a number. And it's probably going to be a pretty fun birthday because you've been making fun of people for being old for awhile now so I'm sure they are going to plan something ridiculous and spectacular. Some things to keep in mind as you prepare to turn 30.

1- Don't sweat the small stuff. Life is too short.
2- Run. For all the people that can't...run.
3- Congrats on finishing the Brewers half marathon this year! I'm so proud of you. Now go get that 13.1 sticker!
4- Love. Love without holding anything back. I have yet to meet someone that regrets loving people.
5- You'll always learn something from the relationships you're in...romantic and platonic...good and bad. Don't disregard what you learned based on the fact that it might not end the way the "right" way according to you.
6- Keep yourself centered in the One who remains unchanging. If you do this, the path won't be quite as bumpy. And remember why you're here.
7- You're really good at Google. Don't let people know this. They'll think you're a stalker.
8- Always have important conversations in person...never over a text message...or an email.
9- See the good in people. We're all just doing our best.
10- Have you gotten the muffler on the grandma car fixed yet?
11- I hope you've finished your master's by this point. If you haven't...you're so close. Stop making excuses.
12- Spend time with your mom and dad. Live your life, but remember to spend as much time with them as possible.
13- Have you gone to Europe yet? Why not?
14- Remember that time Luke did a handspring on your exercise ball? Yeah, that was awesome.
15- Don't settle.
16- Take a vacation. Bring your lovebucket.
17- Remember what you see isn't ALWAYS what you get. Sometimes there's more there than meets the eye.
18- Have you had a coffee date with the Schommer's lately?
19- Remember that you want to take a hot air balloon ride!
20- What's the recipe with the broken pretzel crust and strawberry/whipped cream top? It's so tasty...you should make that sometime. And the frozen fruit thing. Make that too. And fruit pizza. Just make sure you cook and bake a lot, because you enjoy that.
21- What are you doing for yourself musically?
22- Buy someone else's coffee today. Pay it forward.
23- Don't forget about the chai tea at Berres Brothers. It's fall...you need a couple of bags.
24- Have you taken advantage of all the doctor's appointments that are covered in your preventative care in your health insurance. (You're getting old...TAKE CARE OF IT!)
25- Are you taking care of yourself? Mentally? Physically? Emotionally?
26- Write another letter to yourself each year. Keep the important things important.
27- Don't ever think of giving up coffee. Best thing...Saturday morning with a Cranky Al's crueller and a hot cup 'o joe.
28- Did you ever find your mailbox key?
29- You have my permission to remain this age forever. We like this number.
30- Learn from the past, live in the present, and look forward to the future.

Love,
me
